I've been waiting for blueberry season to arrive and it's finally here! Watch out, gang, because I'm going to make my first-ever blueberry pie! I love to bake (mostly cakes and cookies), but it's been years since I've baked a pie. One thing I know about pies: it's all about the crust. It seems like everyone and their grandmother has their own special recipe for pie crust. According to the "professionals," too much shortening makes the crust tough, so they recommend using butter instead. However, using only butter can be problem in the baking process, causing the pie crust to burn, so others suggest combining half shortening and half butter. My mother has a "no fail" pie crust that she says is the best in the world. Can't go wrong with that. (Hi, Mom!)
To get into the blueberry mood, I'd like to introduce my scented Blueberry Candle. It comes in a decorative jar with a resealable lid. You can order it at my store at

What do you get when 354 blueberries try to go through the door at the same time?
A blueberry jam.

I'm a fan of blueberries, too. The perfect summer fruit.
